What is Robotic Process Automation

Robotic Process Automation

Robotic Process Automation

Robotic Process Automation is a technique to automate business process using digital work force (Robots). Software robots are employed to execute certain tasks in industries which are repetitive in nature  , this ensures the quality , speed cost reduction etc .

Mostly back office process which are labor intensive are major target areas  to be automated . Basically in process of RPA a software is created which is capable of interacting with other software , MS office or other tools , websites just like any other human .

List of RPA Tools

1. Blue Prism

Blue Prism Supports  Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning, and sentiment analysis which helps companies to meet their business goals .The Blue Prism Robotic Operating Model (ROM) provides the framework you need to set up a Digital Workforce within your organization.

  • Supports multiple languages which  enables non English speaking users to interact with application comfortably .
  • Blue Prism Digital Workers have Intelligent Automation Skills that make it easier  for organizations to leverage technologies that deliver true operational agility.
  • The ability to read, understand and contextualize visual information digitally.
  • Adapt and evolve processing patterns and contextual meaning from data sets.
  • Enact seamless communication and collaboration between people, process and technology.
  • Can run on cloud via Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services or on dedicated host providing companies with flexible infrastructure choices.

2. UiPath

UiPath is a feature-rich and easy to understand robotic automation platform(RPA) designed to help business analysts and administrators to automate processes within their businesses. It supports Smart Card Robot Authentication.

  • Recommended for Enterprise Businesses.
  • Its open and extensible platform features hundreds of built-in, customized , shareable activities, and deep integrations with ERP, BPM and AI technologies.
  • Built-in intelligent OCR, integrated NLP services from Google, Watson and Microsoft, and deep learning to reduce maintenance.
  • Manage variety and number of processes from front to back-office regardless of complexity.
  • Defense-grade security and auditing which includes RBAC, encryption everywhere, and Veracode certified Code.

3. Automation Anywhere

With automation anywhere enterprise, companies can create smart bots that perform tasks in different areas of the business.

  • Optimized for the business user with advanced capabilities for IT for bot development.
  • Can be deployed even in the front-end for rules-based processes as well as in the back-end for a true and complete RPA solution.
  • Create, deploy and monitor bots across the enterprise.
  • Has an analytics and reporting feature that provides them with intelligence regarding the performances of their bots and their impact on the business at large.
  • Comply with security and audit requirements, like GDPR.

Pros of RPA

  1. Large numbers of the process can easily have automated.
  2. Cost are reduced significantly as the RPA takes care of repetitive task and saves precious time and resources.
  3. Programming skills are not needed to configure a software robot. Thus, any non-technical staff can set up a bot or even record their steps to automate the process.
  4. Robotic process automation support and allows all regular compliance process, with error-free auditing.
  5. The robotic software can rapidly model and deploy the automation process.
  6. Software robots do not get tired. It increases the scalablity.
  7. The defects are tracked for each test case story and the sprint.
  8. Effective, seamless Build & Release Management
  9. Real time visibility into bug/defect discovery
  10. There is no human business which means there is no need for time for the requirement of training.

Cons of RPA

  1. The bot working speed depends upon  application speed with which it is interacting .
  2. Bots needs to be reconfigured if there is even a small change in the business process or other application with which it is interacting .
  3. Multiple instance  of similar bots can be run at a same time which means huge reduction in work force ,which leads in job loss.
